Picture of the day

My book shelve has reached its final evolution, We are getting a new one tonight. Books have survived the advance of technology and will remain one of the greatest links to our imaginations. Its important to keep this gateway well exercised because most of the entertainment availible today is just that, entertainment.

Thanks for the plug, but you ain't seen nothin' yet. When we lived in Japan, we had a study, which was a room reserved for a big desk, a bit bookshelf, additional books and two wardrobes. The "additional" books were stacked about 50-80cms high on the floor, leaving us just a trail to get to our clothes, every day. One day we had a Mag 5 earthquake, and it took two whole days to get the piles manageable, and clothes accessible. The apartment was 42 square meters, with three "rooms" and a kitchen/dining, and a full bathroom. One day, a friend calculated how much "rent" each of those stacks were paying, based on our rent and the size of the apartment; her conclusion was that it wasn't worth us saving everything. She, on the other hand, lived in a 85 square meter luxury apartment, so she got to keep everything.

Thank goodness we are in New Zealand.
